Become a coach or volunteer

The academy is run entirely by volunteers. Our 50 coaches give their time so more than 220 local children can play. You don't need to be an ex-pro, and you don't even need to coach. If you can give a little time, there's a role for you.

Ways to help

Find a role that fits you

Coach a squad

PVG check

Run sessions and matchdays alongside a team's coaching group. No experience needed. You'll learn from the coaches already involved.

Help at training

PVG check

Help set up, run drills and keep sessions safe and fun. Plenty of our coaches started out this way.

Help behind the scenes

No coaching needed

It's not all about football. Teams and the committee need help with admin, matchday organisation, fundraising and sponsorship.

The pathway

How we get you ready

Every coach and volunteer is properly checked and supported, in line with our safeguarding policy.

01

Get in touch

Email the academy and tell us how you'd like to help, and if you have a team in mind.

02

Safer recruitment

Like every Scottish football club, we check identity and references, and roles working with children need a PVG check. We'll guide you through it.

03

Wellbeing training

Everyone working with children completes the Scottish football wellbeing and protection training for their role.

04

Join a team

You'll be welcomed into a team's coaching group, with support from people who've done it before.

What to expect

  • A welcome from experienced coaches, so you're never thrown in alone.
  • Guidance through your PVG check and the wellbeing training.
  • A chance to give something back to your local community.
  • A commitment that fits around work and family life.

Put your name forward

Email the academy with how you'd like to help and any team you have in mind. There's no obligation.
